Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny sleepy town. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel became a woman of a certain age living in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. She aspired to be professional, however because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew all of her dancing partners. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from a high school drama teacher that led her in the right direction. Her teacher invited her to audition for a part in the school's production. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her BA in Fine Arts at York University. In the past 20 years, Brugel's work been featured on both the small and large screen. The most notable was her fame when she was offered the part as Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was produced over the course of ten years.
